Policies
Dress Code Students should dress appropriately for participation in classroom projects and physical education classes. Tennis shoes must be worn for all p.e. activities. Clothing should cover the body adequately so children can remain focused on schoolwork. Shirts should not be revealing of the lower trunk and should have appropriate words, messages, and logos. Any clothing with bad language, inappropriate logos, gang or drug related messages are not allowed; including anything that visually relates to death i.e. skeletons, skulls, etc. Shorts and skirts should be at least 4 inches long at the inseam, and the tops of pants should not be lower than the waist or hips. No baggy pants/shorts allowed. Underwear is not allowed to be showing. Shorts are required to be worn under skirts that are above the knee in length. Appropriate shoes are required for participation in physical education classes. While sleeveless shirts are acceptable, tank tops and/or spaghetti strap tops are not acceptable. Hats are not allowed in the classroom. Parents will be notified if their child is dressed inappropriately and will be asked to bring a change of clothing for their child.
Absence/Sick Policy If a child exhibits any signs of illness within a 24-hour period prior to a school day, he/she should remain at home. Signs of illness for which the child should remain at home are: fever, vomiting/diarrhea, sore throat, and cold symptoms. Should a child come to school with any of these symptoms, he/she will be sent home. The administrator should be phoned if a child would miss school due to illness.
If a student is absent for reasons other than illness, the administrator should be notified by phone, note, or in person.
Minor Injuries If a child gets injured at school, all efforts will be made to contact the parent. As a staff, we will attend to the injured child by administering the appropriate first aid, such as ice packs, band aids, etc.
Cell Phone Policy It’s important that we honor our teachers, their classrooms and keep the integrity of the learning environment, so Students are NOT allowed to have cell phones at CCA. If your child needs to contact you, s/he is able to use the school phone.
Snow Day and Snow Delay Policy Please be aware, Cornerstone Christian Academy follows the snow day cancellation schedule implemented by FUSD. We do NOT follow 2 hour delays. If the school district calls a snow day, classes will be cancelled at Cornerstone. If the district calls a snow delay of 1-2 hours, Cornerstone will either cancel or have classes as normal. An email will be sent out no later than 7am if classes are cancelled. Please check local radio or television stations for possible snow days WHENEVER the weather is inclement. You can also call Angela at 480-223-3715.
Recess/Outdoor Policy *All Students must stay within the taped area when outside.
*All Students must have adult supervision when outside during school hours.
*Cinder piles and snow piles are off limits at all times.
*The church bell is off limits.
Parent pick up after school policy After school is a critical time, when students begin to run around inside and outside the building; for our students’ safety, parents need to come into the building to pick up their children. Students need to wait in the multipurpose room for their parents to pick them up. Students are to stay out of the sanctuary, unless they are in Chapel.
